Anthesis Represents EU Research at European Public Health Economics Conference
Krister Mars, environmental economist at the sustainability advisory firm Anthesis, represented VALESOR at the European Public Health Economics Conference (EPHEC) in Palermo on June 26.
A central area within the VALESOR project is assessing the health burden linked to air pollution exposure and demonstrating how improved regulation can yield significant social and economic gains.
“There is growing evidence that reducing air pollution not only improves quality of life but also leads to substantial cost savings in healthcare and productivity,” said Krister Mars. “Through VALESOR, we are working to ensure these benefits are made visible to policy-makers.”
The conference brought together leading researchers, economists, and policy professionals from across Europe to explore how economic tools can strengthen public health strategies. The VALESOR presentation emphasised the importance of developing tools for integrating long-term health valuations into policy assessments and highlighted the need for better data and decision-making frameworks to address environmental health risks effectively.
